Product Description
The System Audio Air 1 Compact Wireless speaker is a small unit with a big and powerful sound. Two built-in Class D amplifiers deliver 90 Watts each, to the two drivers. Note that the Air 1 compact wireless speaker is a stand-alone mono unit that may be upgraded to stereo in the future. While the Air 9 wireless speaker is designed as a stereo pair. Connectivity is good with a built-in phono preamp and Bluetooth 5.00.
Additionally, there are two digital optical and analogue inputs. Moreover, Digital sound Processing (DSP) allows you to adjust the sound to match the placement of the speaker. The design resembles a classic bookshelf speaker with no over-the-top design elements. A remote control is provided. Finally, walnut or black finishes are available with black or white grills.
Class D amplifier with a two way speaker
A two-way speaker system is used by the System Audio Air 1. The woofer and tweeter each have their own Class D, 90 Watt amplifier. Both drivers have been optimized for this unit. Class D amplifiers are popular in active speakers as they are designed to be more efficient than linear amplifiers. In fact, they are almost 90% efficient. Class D uses less power and generates less heat, making it ideal for a compact unit. Moreover, digital amplifiers use MOSFET transistors which are switched at a high frequency to deliver the sound. A series of pulses, known as Pulse Code Modulation is used. The closer the pulses are together the louder the sound.
Connectivity
Connectivity is good with the System Audio Air 1. Firstly, a long-range Bluetooth 5.00 system is built in. It can handle data at 16-bit 48kHz and provides a reliable connection. Next, the unit has a HDMI input that allows the sound from your TV to be connected. This HDMI input is ARC enabled, as a result, you can control the System Audio Air 1 via the TV’s remote control. For portable devices, there is a 3.5mm aux socket. Additionally, there are RCA line inputs and a phono input for moving magnet cartridge-equipped turntables. Moreover, there are two optical digital inputs. Finally, your Smartphone can be charged via the USB port and a subwoofer output is available.
Digital sound processing (DSP) for optimum performance
Another optimal feature of the System Audio Air 1 is Digital Sound Processing. The built-in powerful DSP engine uses a 32-bit floating point processor for optimal adaptation to the room acoustics. The DSP engine also allows you to set the sound parameters manually.
