Product Description
TEAC UD-701N flagship network DAC pre and headphone amplifier aims to reach a pinnacle in audiophile amplifiers. Offering a newly developed discrete DAC, a dual mono structure and four high capacity toroidal core transformers as well as much more.
TEAC ΔΣ (Delta Sigma) discrete DAC
The UD-701N uses a newly developed TEAC ΔΣ (Delta Sigma) discrete DAC which is made up of discrete circuitry that uses FPGA incorporating TEAC algorithms. DSD signals are transmitted without alterations while analog signals are output with high audio quality and PCM signals are transmitted after passing through a ΔΣ modulator and conversion to 1-bit signals. With the TEAC ΔΣ discrete DAC, playback of 384kHz/32-bit PCM and 22.5MHz DSD is possible.
Dual mono Structure
The UD-701N uses a dual mono structure within the unit, from the D/A converter section and analog stage to the independent left and right torodial core transformers. The dual mono structure has complete mono circuits for each channel which prevents interference between left and right channels.
Four High Capacity Toroidal Core Transformers
Within both the network module and digital control sections separate toroidal core transformers are used in addition to 2 toroidal core transformers being used for the independent right and left analog signals. Additionally, the UD-701N supplies stable power to the network module by strengthening the power supply for the network module section with linear power.
Analog Preamplifier Function
The UD-701N works as both a USB DAC/Network player but also as a high quality analog preamplifier. The USB DAC/Network player employs two sets of coaxial and optical digital inputs and the analog preamp uses additional analog audio inputs via XLR and RCA connectors. Additionally, the UD-701N makes use of a volume control that can be adjusted in extremely accurate 0.5dB intervals, allowing you to find the best possible sound.
Improved TEAC-HCLD2 Enhanced-Current Output Buffer Circuits
TEAC-HCLD2 circuits are used to raise the current transmission capabilities of the analog output circuits. Each channel has diamond buffer amplifiers with high current capabilities with a negative and positive two-circuit structure.
4-pin XLR Headphone Amplifier
Within the dedicated headphone amplifier, each of the right, left, negative and positive circuits have their own diamond buffer which enables the connection of balanced drive headphones. Moreover, the UD-701N enables many types of headphones, including 600ohm high impedance headphones to reach their full potential by driving these amplifiers in parallel so they can provide a strong drive.
MQA Full Decoder
To achieve analog waveforms that are true as possible to the original recordings the UD-701N is installed with an MQA decoder that can control D/A-converted waveforms with precision as fine as 5ms.
Upconversion
The UD-701N uses RDOT-NEO (Refined Digital Output Technology NEO) for its upconversion function, the RDOT-NEO augments PCM digital audio signals smoothly and upconvert their sampling frequencies 2, 4 or 8 times (384kHz maximum).
Bluetooth
The UD-701N uses LDAC™ and LHDC codecs to transmit high quality (96kHz/24-bit) audio data. It also supports Qualcomm® aptX™ HD, which is capable of 48kHz/24-bit transmission and AAC, Qualcomm® aptX™ and SBC codecs.
Support For Popular Apps
Common control apps with work with Open home can be used with the UD-701N, playlists can be managed using TEAC HR Streamer as well as other apps. The system will also be made Roon Ready after firmware update made available after the product release date. Finally, enjoy music streaming apps such as Spotify, Tidal and Qobuz.
TEAC HR Audio Player
TEAC HR Audio Player is free dedicated softwear that is used to easily play 384kHz/32-bit PCM and 22.5Mhz DSD from Windows and Mac computers.
TEAC HR Streamer
TEAC HR Streamer is a network control app that can be used on your iOS or Android device, made by TEAC, to support Open Home. Select tracks, add them to playlists cross them over between cloud services and local networks, including audio files stored on USB and NAS drives as well as MAS and FLAC sources on Tidal and Qobuz.
