Product Description
Thorens’ SPU 124 cartridge is a modernised version of the classic SPU design. It has been designed with several improvements for optimum compatibility for the Thorens TD 124 DD turntable. The TD 124 DD is Thorens’ modern revival one of the most legendary turntables in the brand’s history.
SPU 124 Upgrades
The SPU 124 features a revised generator system, which allows for a maximum output of 0.5 mV, relaxing the requirement for high gain transformer or active pre-amplification systems.
Still making use of a highly polished Nude Elliptical stylus, the stylus tip mass has been reduced significantly, resulting in reduced VTF and higher tracking ability.
Ortofon Classic SPU Design
Ortofon developed the classic SPU Cartridge 60 years ago. It has a classic signature sound that vintage audiophiles love to hear and isn’t found across any other vintage cartridge. Thorens’ have built on this legendry cartridge to give the SPU 124/TD 124 DD turntable class.
