Product Description
Thorens TM 1600 reel to reel tape machine is a beautiful designed purist analogue playback addition to Thorens range.
Principally designed as a half track quarter inch machine accomodating reels upto 10.5" in size at speeds of either 19 cm/s (7.5 in/s) or 38 cm/s (15 in/s).
It includes selectable equalisation between CCIR for European recordings and NAB for US and Asia recordings. An edit feature is also included that allows operation with one hand.
Designed around a very compact tape drive from Duesseldorf based tape specialist Ballfinger that allows the unit to stand only 50mm high. This makes it a much more compact alternative to an older machine.
Its comparatively compact size is not at the cost of sound quality though, the TM 1600 has been designed principally for sound quality. The head and capstan motors are far apart to generate a very high signal to noise ratio.
