Tom Evans' Vibe Mk1.5 is the latest version of this purist pre amplifier featuring 5 line level inputs, 1 record out and 2 standard outputs, enabling upto four mono power amplifiers to be driven. The output stages are even capable of driving 100 metres of cable, making it a perfect choice for larger as well as "normal" sized listening rooms. Only the best possible components have been used, and in similarity to Tom's phono stages, performance is well beyond what the Vibe's price would suggest.
The output stage relay is protected and has DC detection and DC protection. Volume is controlled by a 24 step DACT attenuator with channel matching of +/- 0.05db, attenuation accuracy of +/- 0.05db, and THD of 0.0001, all excellent measurements. All of these components are of the best possible quality - right down to the switch Tom chose for input switching which comes from the defence industry.
The Vibe includes Lithos power regulation. This power supply is 3 times faster, 1000 times quieter, and 5 decimal places more accurate than the "best" previous regulators. This is provided from an external supply box which contains a 70 watt transformer and electrostatic screens to prevent interference. Power is then rectified, smoothed and regulated before entering the phono stage.
