The AE120 Mk2 is the flagship speaker with Acoustic Energy’s 100 series. It is the largest model featuring 3-way design, twin bass drive, a dedicated mid-range driver and a 25mm tweeter. The AE120 Mk2 is a comprehensive speaker that suits a vast range of interior spaces while offering killer sound.
Bass and Midrange
The AE120 Mk2 is a speaker with a true 3-way design, offering a big soundscape within a slim enclosure. Twin bass drive units are the foundations of the AE120 Mk2’s room filling performance while a meticulously engineered housing, designed to reduce the harmful effects of rear wave reflections, houses a dedicated mid-range driver.
Tweeter
The AE120 Mk2’s 25mm soft dome tweeter has been integrated with Wide Dispersion Technology (WDT) waveguide and it manages the high frequencies with low distortion, high sensitivity and controlled dispersion.
Crossover
The AE120 Mk2’s 3-way crossover has had its impedance compensated to avoid resonance issues which could colour mid-range performance and slow bass delivery. Phase and time alignment has had particularly close attention paid to them to create optimum integration and soundstage. This results in a speaker offering wide and smooth high frequencies, a smooth mid-range and a lightning fast bass.
Construction and Design
The cabinet of the AE120 Mk2 has been constructed using 15mm HDF, comes mass-loaded to dampen any unwanted vibrations and has an internal bracing system that has been carefully tuned to reduce cabinet resonances. The AE120 Mk2’s design is luxurious yet minimalist which allows it to find a place in any space it is put within. Choose from satin black or walnut vinyl veneer finishes.
