Product Description
Anthem MRX740 8K AV Receiver is the latest version of the MRX740, with support for 8K content and more. The MRX740 itself features many upgrades over its predecessor the MRX720 that make this a state of the art home cinema unit designed with a huge emphasis on easy user operation.
Some of the improvements include ARC Genesis, a redesigned and more accurate calibration microphone, support for Dolby Atmos, integrated streaming support, Anthem Web User Interface - to name a few. And all of these features are housed in a sleek new design that matches Anthem’s STR products.
Why the Anthem MRX740?
The MRX-740 is the mid level receiver in the MRX range; it’s perfect for sophisticated home cinema set ups and audio-visual enthusiasts. It delivers 140 watts per channel to 7 channels and an upgrade in amp provides better sound dynamics and speaker control compared to the MRX540. The MRX-740 provides 11 channels of processing, again more than the 540 but slightly less than it’s big brother, the 1140, which has up to 15.
The MRX740 is even more versatile than the 540 with the possibility to add zone 2 audio and video outputs for sending both sound and picture over to another room. This is great for creating a btter cinematic experience. And as well as all this the 740 also comes equipped with all the new exciting features such as Anthem Web Interface and improved ARC technology as seen on the others in the range.
New Improvements
Anthem has removed DTS Play-Fi and replaced it with Google Chromecast, Airplay 2, Bluetooth, Spotify Connect and Roon! Everything you’ll need for the best possible streaming experience.
All Anthem receivers have an upgraded DAC (digital to analogue converter). The AKM 96K/24Bit DACs provide an even smoother and more open sound. The new MRX range seamlessly integrates with your TV/Projector as it includes 7 x HDMI inputs for great flexibility and is compatible with Dolby Vision and supports IMAX Enhanced video. They also have 5 x analogue inputs, 2 x coax digital and 3 x Toslink digital inputs.
Anthem’s MRX receivers allow for more flexibility by allowing users to mix and match your audio and video combinations with up to 30 virtual inputs available. Most receivers do not allow you to assign more than one audio input to a video input.
MRX740 is ready for HDMI 2.0b HDCP 2.2. A hardware upgrade, however, to an HDMI 2.1 (8K) will be optional to install when it becomes available. All of the MRX range has a new HDMI e-ARC input/output. If you do have an 8K TV, you can plug your 8K source into the TV and the TV will feed a full Dolby Atmos out through its e-ARC port to the Anthem receiver.
The MRX comes with support for Dolby Atmos. Dolby Atmos is the latest in surround sound technology by adding a third dimensional aspect to your hearing with the addition to height tracks.
Anthem Web Interface
Anthem Web User Interface is now built in to all of Anthem's MRX AV Receivers. Anthem Web Interface gives users the ability to easily access any function or setting and make changes with the use of a phone, tablet or laptop. Renaming input channels, adjusting volume, changing audio modes and tweaking channel trims are some of the many examples.
The Web User Interface can also be used to calibrate speaker delays and levels and configure network settings/control options. And unlike like the previous models, software updates just got even easier as the MRX740 will update over the web, rather than like before with the long procedure of USB downloads. The operation of the MRX740 could not get any easier.
Anthem Room Correction
ARC Genesis is Anthem's state-of-the-art technology that improves your audio quality by adjusting the sound to better fit your room. Proprietary Digital Signal Processing (DSP) software works in tandem with a calibrated microphone to provide improvements to the sound you hear. And if you speak to any sound engineer, they will tell you that, the room is just as important as the gear you have as sound can be affected by room size and shape.
With the use of a microphone and some simple instructions you can fine tune your system to get the best results. The improved Anthem Room Correction software on the MRX range has the most comprehensive set of features yet, such as support for both Mac and Windows; new target curve adjustment options including deep bass and high frequencies; improved algorithms and much more.
