Built In B1 and D1

The B1's aptX HD Bluetooth Receiver and the D1's 24-bit DAC are combined with complex speaker components merging features of two of Audioengine's best-sellers for a full high-end analogue and digital audio system.

Headphone Amp

The HD3 contains a high-performance headphone amplifier based on the OPA2134 low-noise opamp. This amp is able to provide low-impedance, high-fidelity audio and a 2-volt output which easily drives a wide range of headphones.

High Quality Bluetooth

The Bluetooth features aptX HD coding for very impressive sound. It is backwards-compatible with SBC and AAC codecs as well as standard aptX so even if your phone or tablet does not support aptX HD, you can wirelessly stream music from any Bluetooth-enabled device and still enjoy all your music.

Wireless Range

Most Bluetooth devices have a very limited range typically confined to one room. Through careful signal management circuitry and antenna tuning, HD3 is a superior multi-room solution with up to 3 times the range of standard Bluetooth with no loss in audio quality.

24-bit DAC

Bluetooth receiver and USB input on the HD3 both use the PCM 5102 DAC, renowned for its low-noise and high-fidelity. Used as an upsampling DAC, it will supplement all bit depths to 24-bits for a higher signal-to-noise ratio and lower noise floor. All this as well as the added benefit of onboard triple redundancy power source conversion and filtering leads to impressive low noise and low distortion characteristics with a noticeable improvement.

Amplifier Design

The amplifiers are located in the left speaker, conservatively-rated class A/B analogue monoblock design and provide exceptional quality and greater flexibility. All circuit boards for the power/preamp sections are vertically mounted for optimum mechanical shock shielding.

Driver Design

Audiophile-grade, ferrofluid-cooled silk dome tweeters are employed with neodymium magnets. These efficiently endure high power while the edge-driven design lends a smooth response. The aramid fiber woven glass composite woofers with rubber surrounds retain their shape when driven at high levels. The woofers are enclosed in cast aluminum frames which deliver high rigidity and improved heat dispersion.
