Product Description
The Pearl Subwoofer by Cabasse has been produced to make a 2.1 system to go alongside the Pearl Spherical speaker. The Pearl sub delivers phenomenal dynamics and uses the Patented DEAP technology. This optimises the digital signal, that originates from the satellite speakers. The suspended design stand, features a chrome plated steel base which holds the subwoofer in the air. Furthermore, The Pearl sub is an active speaker, with 2000 watts of power, in it’s sleek and modern casing. Finally, The Pearl Sub features a 25cm woofer, that has a large linear excursion, of 30mm.
EAP bass
DEAP or Digital Enhancement off Acoustical performance is a digital Signal Processing methodology. This method provides sound optimisation, depending on the position of the speakers. The setting is changed by using the Cabasse StreamControl app. The app can be installed on Android or iOS devices. Moreover, the Pearl Sub has CRCS room correction, to monitor the frequency response and compensate for any deviations.
Class D amplifiers
Class D amplifiers are used where high power is required, and space is limited. Unlike linear amplifiers they are nearly 90% efficient and generate little heat. Most linear amplifiers operate in class B or Class A/B. These require large, high-current, power supplies, as well as good heatsinking. Whereas, Class D amplifiers use Pulse Code modulation to encode the audio signal. This means that the output MOSFET transistors are either fully on or fully off, with no current flow when they are off. This high frequency signal is filtered at the output to recover the audio signal.
Round Bluetooth remote control
The Pearl sub features a unique, ergonomically designed, Bluetooth remote control. The round design features a control ring that can be used to adjust the volume as well as select the input and play or pause the music. Bluetooth is not known for it’s audio quailty, however the newer codecs, such as aptX use a higher bit depth and sampling frequency, enabling Bluetooth to carry Hi-def audio signals, with good audio performance.
Why a subwoofer.
Most satellite speakers do not have a very good bass response below about 100Hz. However certain instruments can go lower than this. Moreover, modern synthesiser based music, often has a lot of sub-bass content, this would otherwise be lost without a subwoofer. The bass of the Pearl sub will go down as low as 14Hz. Another issue is how to connect a subwoofer. Not all amplifiers have a subwoofer output. However, the Pearl Sub is a perfect match to the Pearl range of satellite speakers. And Will work with the StreamControl app.
Who are Cabasse?
Cabasse are a French company, founded in 1950. They pioneered the use of the coaxial drivers, that are a feature of most of their speakers. Their ethos is the perfect reproduction of music with no colouration or distortion. As a result they use only the best materials for the ultimate sound. Design is also important for Cabasse, with innovative and beautiful cabinet presentation. Moreover the coaxial speaker design results in very focused sound as well as compact speakers.
