    Product Description

Chord PowerARAY professional noise reduction unit is a mains conditioner that targets high frequency noise, known as RFI or radio frequency Interference. This can be generated by your Wi-Fi network, as well as computers and peripherals and this can muddy the sound and cause a loss of detail.

This device is designed to operate in parallel with the supply and does not get in the way of your electricity supply and equipment. The noise reduction unit should be placed as close as possible to the socket that feeds your audio system.

    Converts RFI into heat

The PowerARAY Professional does not use any power on its own, but causes a potential gradient to turn high frequency noise into heat. This is dissipated by the case. The earth, live and neutral wires are each connected to their own MainsARAY noise reduction unit, as well as to SuperARAY conductors. This is designed to give a low impedance path to ground. As a result, the noise floor of your audio system is lowered. The internal components are ‘potted’ with resin, inside a machined billet case. Finally, the unit is available fitted with Chord’s premium mains cable and UK power connector.

    Installation

For best results slightly loosen the screws that hold the feet in place. This will release the damping suspension of the PowerARAY Professional. Connect the conditioner as close as possible to the socket that supplies your equipment. For example, if there is a double socket, connect it to the one next to your audio equipment plug. You can also connect it to one of the outputs of a mains distribution block. It is recommended that it be connected to the socket nearest to the input cable. Try to keep the unit clear of cables.

Why mains conditioners and their types?

There are several types of mains conditioners that do different things. Chord Make the M6 mains distribution block. This features four high quality output sockets as well as individual RFI filters on each internal bus. The are also various filter units. The first type is known as silencers and can be placed close to source of interference such as a Fridge. Several of these can be used around the house to ground out any RFI.

Purifiers work over a wider bandwidth and filter out broadband noise. This kind of noise can make the sound ‘grainy’ with a loss of detail.

The final type is known as clarity conditioners and work on the earth of your system. The earth system in your house can carry a lot of ‘hash’ from appliances and the mains itself. Clarity filters remove the noise. They are very effective at providing increased resolution.
