Phono Cartridges - Roksan Audio
Upgrading your phono cartridge is one of the most effective upgrades you can make for your turntable. The most popular type of phono cartridge is the "moving magnet" (MM) type which offers excellent all-round sound quality, is relatively inexpensive and offers the benefit that you can replace the stylus (end of the cartridge) without changing the whole cartridge. Consequently we also sell a range of replacement styli (plural for stylus) to fit these.
In contrast, "moving coil" (MC) cartridges are the alternative type which are generally more expensive than moving magnet cartridges, but offer the best possible sound quality (although you can not replace the stylus on the end, so once the needle wears out, you need to replace the whole cartridge). We also sell a few 78 cartridges, designed to play older 78 speed shellac records (which can not be played by a normal phono cartridge.
