Product Description
The Jamo S7-25C centre speaker complements the rest of the S7 series and will ensure you never miss a word of dialogue. Speech can often get lost in the mix and a centre speaker will capture every nuance of the dialogue and front sound effects. The 25C has a plinth to match the other S7 speakers but is not tilted, to best align the dialogue with the listening position. Additionally, connection is easy with the recessed terminal posts.
Centre Speaker Importance
Centre channel speakers began in cinemas to fill “the hole in middle effect” of having the left and right speakers too far apart. With Dolby pro-logic, centre speakers came into the home. In home cinema the centre channel is used for dialogue as well as sound effects that are specifically directed to the centre of the action. Without a centre speaker you are missing out on the mix intended by the sound director. A dedicated centre channel also allows you to control the dialogue level independently. Home cinema amplifiers will have a dedicated amplifier for the centre channel.
Crystal Clear Highs
Some cheaper centre speakers are one way only, however the Jamo S7-25C is a two way design. It features a 1” fabric tweeter for crystal clear highs. The copper Faraday ring of this tweeter reduces non linear distortion and provides a wide bandwidth for a detailed yet not harsh sound. Dialogue usually extends from about 80 Hz to 255Hz so is quite low in frequency, however high frequencies are present in centre channel effects.
Intelligibility of Speech
The intelligibility of speech is affected by background noise, be it the sound of other voices or music. This can make it difficult to understand dialogue. This is also a factor of age, so if you are older a centre channel speaker is a must. The relative levels of speech and music is what is important for intelligibility.
Natural Bass
With the S7-25C, embossed paper cones are used for the bass drivers, this increases rigidity, so that the transient response gives a snappy but natural bass. The motor assembly of the S7-25C bass units is of a high strength and incorporates an aluminium inductance shorting ring that increases power handling and lowers distortion. This is done because the ring acts as a heat-sink.
Easy Connectivity
The speaker terminals are recessed in a cavity known as the porthole. This cavity was inspired by the fishing boats of Jamo's home village of Glyngore in Denmark. The cavity is larger than normal to allow easy access to the terminal posts. The posts will take plugs as well as spade connectors or bare wire.
Nordic Influences
For more the fifty years Jamo have produced top quality speakers. The colours used for the S7 range are inspired by Scandinavian nature. The home of Jamo is Denmark so the blue of Norwegians Fjords inspire the dark blue of the cabinet. Snow and mist from the Nordic mountains inspired the grey and white of the other available colour. These subtle colours should sit well with any décor.
