Product Description
The Klipsch RP-1000SW subwoofer is a super-efficient low-frequency sub. It balances excellent amplified driver capability with the cabinet volume and gives a great bass response, with accuracy and speed.
The new cone design uses a Cerametalic membrane. This is a ceramic-metal composite that is extremely strong and resists warping. As a result, there is less distortion. The output is clean and needs less amplifier power. Finally, standby mode uses only 2W of power, which meets global efficiency standards.
Highly Efficient Class D Amplifier
Linear amplifiers are power-hungry and generate heat. Consequently, the RP-1000SW uses a 90% efficient class D amplifier. These are essentially digital with a MOSFET output. That makes the subwoofer very efficient for its size and delivering detail and low-frequency power.
For even more bass extension, there is a custom-engineered front-firing port. This is an aerofoil slot with custom internal geometry. The slot minimises port noise and its front placement makes positioning easier. For example, rear-firing ports cannot be placed too close to a wall.
Easy Placement With The WA-2 Wireless Subwoofer Kit
The subwoofer can be placed anywhere in the room, without trailing wires, by using the WA-2 wireless kit. This device is sold separately and can connect up to four subwoofer speakers. You can then boost the bass from an optimal position in the room.
Use Wired And Wireless Inputs At The Same Time
The RCA inputs and wireless inputs can be used simultaneously. For example, connect the RCA inputs to your normal stereo system. The wireless connection can then be used for your cinema system without changing leads or switching inputs.
Good Control And Flexibility
With the RP-1000SW you can adjust the low-frequency crossover point and the phase. This allows you to match the subwoofer to the rest of your system. Phase compensation will correct any phase errors caused by the room itself.
The crossover point is the point at which the sub-woofer begins to work. Normally a subwoofer has a low pass filter at the input. This block sounds above a certain frequency, usually around 200Hz.
Another problem that can muddy the sound, is phase errors. That is when the sound from the main speakers and the subwoofer reaches the listener at slightly different times. However, with the RP-1000SW, the phase is adjustable.
Detailed Cabinet Design.
The detailed cabinet design features rounded corners and shock-absorbing rubber feet. There is also a removable cloth grille, that connects with steel grille posts. Furthermore, the cabinet is covered in scratch-resistant ebony vinyl that looks like real wood, and the grille ensures a premium look.
Why A Subwoofer?
A subwoofer is needed as normal speakers cannot produce the ultra-low frequencies demanded by movies and games. There are also certain instruments that go below 200Hz. Subwoofers output sound, between 20hz and 200 Hz. In fact, they are the .1 in a 7.1 surround sound system. Finally, Subwoofers can be placed anywhere in a room, as low frequencies are not directional. A subwoofer will deliver a more vibrant encompassing sound.
