Moreover, the base is threaded to accept the STAND25 speaker stand (sold separately).
The Motion Range
The Motion range is an ambitious project from Martin Logan that defines elegance and performance. Exclusive technologies, and forty years of experience, have led to a range of quality and excellence. The Martin Logan sound is characterised by exceptional realism articulation and detail, regardless of the listening environment. Advanced, technologies such as the folded motion tweeter and Kevlar woofers provide an unparalleled listening experience.
Gen 2 Folded Motion tweeter
The XT B100 Speakers has an upgraded tweeter, with the Gen 2 Obsidian FMT XT. This has a larger motor and offers a higher output with less distortion. The FMT XT has an effortless and detailed sound along with a 40% increase in surface area. The new tweeters offer the most accurate high frequency presentation to date.
Another important feature with tweeters is the waveguide. This is the area around the tweeter, that directs the sound towards the listener. Over 50 design options were looked at until the Folded Motion design was finalized. As a result, there is a good dispersion match with the woofer. The waveguide design ensures a balanced sound regardless of the listening position.
Kevlar woofer and midrange unit
The XT B100 Speakers has a more advanced woofer than the rest of the Motion range. It is made of Nomex reinforced Kevlar. This strong and rigid material resists breakup. Moreover, it has a lightweight construction, strength and anti-resonance properties giving the perfect balance. The woofer is a good match with the Folded Motion tweeter, giving great clarity and accuracy at any volume.
The parts of a speaker
Most coned speakers have a similar construction, although materials technologies have improved over the years. The main part of a speaker is the cage. This holds all the other parts together and is usually made of metal. Fixed to the cage is a permanent magnet. This energises the voice coil when an audio signal is passed through it. The voice coil is wound around a cylindrical former that is attached to the base of the cone. The coil assembly sits in a circular groove that is cut into the magnet. The voice coil can have an impedance of between 4 and 16 Ohms. Notably, the impedance determines how much power is delivered to the speaker.
Modern design and luxury finishes
The folded motion waveguide gives the XT B100 Speakers a unique and modern look. Moreover, cutting edge technologies give The XT B100 Speakers are designed to give a truly unmatched sound quality. Only the best quality materials are used for the cabinets and three luxury finishes are available, Piano black, satin white and walnut.
