Product Description
Mobile Fidelity Fender x Mofi PrecisionDeck turntable is a collaboration between two great American companies, Fender and Mobile Fidelity. Limited to only 1000 units, each with an individually numbered plate.
This beautiful turntable reproduces music with warmth and detail and is designed to play any genre of music with equal authority. The high end MasterTracker cartridge (pre-fitted) extracts every possible nuance from the groove and the precision tonearm has many fine adjustments available to tweak the sound.
Another great feature is the Wooden plinth. This is made by Fender in the same factory as Fender guitars. The internal and tonearm wiring is made by Cardas Audio for low noise from the pickup.
Trademark traits and great design
This excellent US designed turntable has aesthetic elements inspired by both Fender Guitars and Mobile Fidelity’s PrecisionDeck turntable. The iconic tricolour sunburst pattern is inspired by the early fifties designed Fender Stratocaster and Telecaster guitar models.
The finish is a beautiful and rugged urethane that ages extremely well and has great durability. The same hand-painted finish used for Fender guitars is used, making this limited edition unit an instant collector's item.
Sonically the PrecisionDeck is designed not to add its own character, but rather to leave the music clean and pure.
Fender turntables, a might have been, until now
Leo Fender actually designed a turntable in the mid 1940s. He patented the design, in 1945, and sold the rights for $5000 in advanced royalties. However, at the time, the turntable never went into production. Now Mobile Fidelity and Fender have got together to make this turntable a reality. The wooden plinth is made in the same factory that makes Fender guitars before it is shipped to Mobile Fidelity.
Non-resonant plinth
Unlike guitars, a resonant plinth is not desirable. Therefore the plinth is tuned by acoustics expert Mike Latvis to prevent any resonance. Special cut-outs are milled before the unit is sent to Mobile Fidelity. This is just one of the cutting edge innovations used by the Fender x Mofi PrecisionDeck Turntable. The deck itself is based on the Mobile Fidelity PrecisionDeck and arrives ready to play. Every part is extensively tested for the best performance.
Top quality cartridge
Similar to a guitar pickup the installed MasterTracker cartridge delivers a precise and uncoloured sound. Additionally, The platter is made of a dense Delrin that delivers deep-black backgrounds and extremely low noise. Delrin is a good impedance match for vinyl. This is a very quiet turntable with a 300RPM isolated AC Synchronous motor for excellent speed stability. Moreover, the bearing uses ester-based grease for whisper quiet rotation. The connections to the amplifier are gold plated and feature a shielded copper foil box to prevent any RF pickup.
Hyper accurate tonearm
The Turntable features a custom-designed Ultra tonearm. This 10-inch straight unit has a gimbaled bearing that has great rigidity and tracking accuracy. Moreover, there are fine tuning options that include adjustable tracking force, VTA, Azimuth and enhanced anti-skate adjustments. Finally the wiring is from Cardas Audio. This keeps the signal pure and the wiring runs all the way from the headshell to the RCA connectors.
Nothing is overlooked with this turntable. The platter bearing is made of hardened steel complete with a sapphire thrust pad. As a result, the rotation is beautifully smooth. Additionally, the anti-vibration feet are designed to prevent any vibration from reaching the cartridge.
MasterTracker cartridge
The MasterTracker cartridge is a top-end unit with housing milled from a solid aluminium billet. It is fine-tuned by Allen Perkins at Mobile Fidelity. The result is tracking of surgical precision, designed to provide a pure representation of what was recorded in the studio. The Ohno continuous-cast copper coils and Micro Linear stylus extract limitless amounts of information from the groove.
