Pathos InPower MkII Monoblock Power Amplifier

Pathos InPower MkII Monoblock Power Amplifier demonstrates the next stage of the brilliant INPOL circuit, which was originally created during the development of the TT integrated amplifier. Pathos engineers took on the tricky challenge of improving the original InPower. The result is an extremely musical "tube" sound that is defined, dynamic, full and fast. The output power has been upgraded from 100 watts (MK I) to 120 watts in to 8 Ohms. The gain is also adjustable between 21dB and 33dB bringing enhanced performance to a bi-amped setup; more specifically it enables operating on the bass level as you prefer.

The Solution

The amplifier adopts an intrinsically balanced input stage that drives a double INPOL stage in a balanced configuration. By using a double triode tube, which is formed by two single triodes that are identical to each other, the transfer curves are almost identical to each other.

This pair of triodes are driven in opposing phase in order to neutralise the curve distortion. This is for tension amplification. As for current amplification, the same situation is obtained with a Double INPOL circuit using selected NPN components.

Exceeds Expectations

The approach to re-design the InPower to get a more natural quality is what Pathos do best. The result is an improved musical sound, detailed, very dynamic and with full “tube” characteristics.

Inpol Technology

InPol (Inseguitore Pompa Lineare - Linear Pump Follower) is a system patented by Pathos Acoustics that has gained great success and won many awards. Inpol devices have a special sonic personality only obtainable by this particular circuit design.

Fully balanced in Class A using a single solid-state component in follower configuration, it combines high current gain and with voltage gain together. The valve amplifier boosts the input signal voltage and InPol supplies the current to drive loudspeakers without any further amplification. In this way, the signal becomes a true copy of the original, with all quality, purity and harmonic content intact.

Pure Class A Sound

An increase in the theoretical output in pure Class A is possible thanks to Input Technology , between 25% and 50% combined with low output impedance which is crucial for the damping factor, and further improved by the double InPol. InPower MkII monoblock power amplifiers represent the evolution of the INPOL circuit, originally created with the birth of the TT integrated amplifier.
