Product Description
The Pro-Ject T2 W Turntable with WIFI is an award-winning turntable that can stream to any audio device. That includes hi-fi streamers, network-enabled AV receivers, and smart speakers. Additionally, this is still a Pro-ject turntable with uncompromised sound quality and a new high-quality phono stage.
The latest WIFI technology is used and this device is capable of hi-res streaming at 14-bit 48kHz. Moreover, it is multiroom capable and can stream to many devices simultaneously. The multicore processor can handle this with ease. Lastly, the Pro-Ject control app offers a fast and intuitive user interface. There is also a standard RCA phono output and a wired Ethernet socket.
Glass platter and high-precision motor
A high-mass glass platter is fitted to the Pro-Ject T2 W Turntable with WIFI. This has zero resonance compared with plastic or steel alternatives. Additionally, speed control is via a simple rocker switch for selecting 33 or 45rpm speeds. High-mass platters help to esist any speed variations. This is a belt drive unit and voids any possibility of cogging, as is possible with direct drive units.
Anti-skate and Rainier cartridge
The Pro-Ject T2 W Turntable with WIFI is fitted with a spring-based anti-skate device. The tonearm tends to pull towards the centre of the record during playback. This can cause uneven groove wear and distortion, especially on the last track of an LP. As a result, this turntable has an anti-skating mechanism.
The setting should be matched to the tracking weight of the cartridge. Notably, the Pro-Ject T2 W Turntable with WIFI comes pre-fitted with a quality Sumiko Rainier MM cartridge this places instruments accurately in the sound field and is hand-crafted in Japan.
9” aluminium tonearm
The one-piece tonearm of the Pro-Ject T2 W Turntable with WIFI is 9” long and made of one-piece aluminum for stability and low mass. Moreover, it has an upgraded low-friction bearing for absolute tracking accuracy. This is a belt drive unit with a subplatter.
High-quality phono stage
The phono preamp of the Pro-Ject T2 W Turntable with WIFI uses a dual-stage split-passive phono preamp. This stunning phono stage is a new design and uses passive components to perform RIAA equalization. The equalization is placed between two active gain stages. The RCA output is via two RCA sockets and is line-level.
What is streaming?
Nowadays most music is streamed off the internet, and many amplifiers and hi-fi units do not have a phone stage to connect a turntable to. Hence the Pro-Ject T2 W Turntable with WIFI. This unit enables the audio from a record to be sent via WIFI to your home network or streamer. High-end streamers can be stand-alone units or be built into AV receivers.
These can take a hi-res, lossless, stream such as that provided by this unit. However, there is also a standard MP3-based stream available for older units. You can also send the audio signal to multiple rooms by using smart speakers.
