Pro-Ject Vinyl NRS Box S3 represents a solution to an all too common issue that every vinyl enthusiast has experienced with older vinyl - excess noise and crackle, which is evident even with the use of sophisticated cleaners.
One could argue that the warmth of sound is the real appeal of vinyl and while slight crackle is a part of the overall experience, any of us that have bought older or used vinyl will know that some vinyl is noisier than others, to the point where this can detract from your enjoyment. This is where this box comes in.
De-Noise & De-Crackle
To bring the sound of your vinyl up to an “almost new” sound, this unit is connected line level - between your phono stage and amplifier. Then the “De-Crackle” function will get to work. This can be fine-tuned on the front panel of the NRS box to be heightened or softened subject to how much you feel needs taking out.
Also, on the front of the unit, you have a VNRS button (Vinyl Noise Reduction System) which can be used to further de-noise the vinyl as well as motor noise introduced by the turntable.
Processing Power
The Vinyl NRS Box S3 comes packed with a sophisticated signal processing system that firstly converts the analogue signal into a 24-bit signal and then lets the “de-noise & de-crackle” systems get to work before passing the finished signal out to your speaker setup.
Internals
The internal construction of the NRS Box S3 is a triumph in design and function coming together in perfect harmony with a one-board design and circuitry that keeps noise to a minimum and when the unit isn’t in use you can just bypass it altogether by the use of RCA going direct from the RCA input to the RCA output.

Box suppresses background noise well, VNRS function. There is almost silence between songs and in quiet passages, near parfect. Reduces only tiny cracking. But they thus partially disappear in the music. Large pops low effect only. It helps for slightly and moderately worn records.
