Product Description
Pro-Ject X8 Superpack turntable is the first model from Pro-Ject based around their true-balanced principle. Like any other Pro-Ject turntable, it can be used via standard RCA output, but also includes XLR outputs for connection to one of Pro-Ject's dedicated balanced phono stages (with MC cartridge models only).
In addition to its balanced credentials, the X8 Superpack is built like a battleship, a solid mass loaded turntable to suit any setup without breaking the bank - in a choice of beautiful finishes, pre-fitted with an excellent Ortofon Quintet Blue cartridge and convenience of one button 33/45rpm speed change.
Taking It from The Top
The X8 inherits some of the best features from the bigger X9 & X10 in the Pro-Ject line up, but don’t let that be a sign of scrimping on quality as you get a whole lot of turntable for a lower price. Some of the features that have been transposed over to the X8 include the MDF chassis (which has always been a favourite amongst those who crave an aesthetically pleasing turntable) and the 9cc EVO carbon tonearm to deliver a true sound has also been carried over.
There are a few slight differences between the X8 & the X9/X10 such as the use of slipmats, but that isn’t a disadvantage – it allows for you to tailor the sound to how you truly want it to be in your setup.
All About the Platter
On the X8, Pro-Ject has again ensured top quality for a lower price point with a superb 5.1kg precision engineered aluminium platter that has been balanced and dampened to ensure a true performance, which combined with an inverted bearing (and ceramic tip) with magnetic support. All of those elements combine to craft a true representation of your vinyl without having to worry about quality loss.
Keeping Up The Speed
The X8 is designed to keep up the pace at both the 33rpm or 45rpm speeds, allowing you to truly appreciate your vinyl as it was meant to be.
A Truly Balanced Experience
Pro-Ject have brought the option of a “True-Balanced” listening experience to the X8 thanks to the 5P to XLR cable (when combined with a balanced phono stage) giving you more depth and less noise than ever seen before on a turntable in this price range. This doesn’t detract from your normal listening either with a semi-balanced Connect it E 5P to RCA cable included.
