Product Description
The Revel M106 bookshelf speakers are compact but feature full-range drivers. They are part of the Performa 3 series. The sound has a wide frequency range, that is uncompressed and has low distortion. They easily blend in with any décor. The low distortion 16.5 cm woofers have ribbed aluminium cones as well as aluminium baskets to reduce resonances. Next, the 2.5cm tweeters are specially designed to match the woofers so that there is an even output. Finally, the curved cabinet has bracing that reduces colouration and the bass port is optimised to reduce port noise. The recommended amplifier power is 50 -150 Watts.
Low distortion woofers
Low-distortion woofers are a feature of the Revel M106 bookshelf speakers. They have several mechanisms that reduce distortion such as ribbed aluminium cones. This helps to eliminate a major source of resonance. Resonance is often audible with other loudspeakers. Moreover, the cast aluminium frames are also designed to eliminate another source of resonance. Additionally, the bass port is designed to reduce dynamic compression by featuring flares at both ends. This also helps with port-generated noise.
Upgraded tweeter motor
The Revel M106 bookshelf speakers feature an upgraded tweeter motor and dome assembly. The acoustic lens waveguide has been mathematically designed to match the tweeter's dispersion. As a result the tweeter output accurately matches the woofers output. The well-matched drivers give a smooth sound that is maintained far off-axis. Finally, The tweeter waveguide increases the output at high frequencies .
Curved enclosure
The curved enclosure used by the Revel M106 bookshelf speakers is inherently stiffer than box-shaped enclosures. The wood is pressed in contiguous layers for strength and to resist splitting. Moreover, the bracing is strategically placed to reduce coloration and resonances. The top-quality finishes include high gloss piano black, high gloss piano white, and genuine walnut. Moreover, the finish is above automotive quality.
Magnetic grills
The grills are designed to prevent sonic diffraction and veiling. They have a clean and subtle appearance. Additionally, the magnet attachment method has removed the need for ugly attachment pegs. As a result, they look great with or without the grills.
