Product Description
The System Audio Air 9 Compact Wireless speakers form a compact stereo speaker system with four 90-watt Class D amplifiers. This is a two-way bass reflex system with an additional wired speaker that connects to the main active unit. A four-pin connector feeds the bass and treble signal to the remote speaker. Connectivity is excellent with inputs for a turntable as well as a 3.5mm input for portable devices.
There is also an RCA analogue input and two digital optical inputs. An active subwoofer can be connected via an RCA socket. There is a sophisticated DAC and DSP engine built in. The DSP engine will match the acoustics of the room for stunning sound. Finally, a remote control is provided and three finishes are available, white, walnut and black.
Class D amplifiers with a two-way speaker system
A woofer and tweeter are used in both of the System Audio Air 9 Active Speakers. These are driven by four separate amplifiers, two for each channel. This obviates the need for a passive crossover. Class D amplifiers are popular with active speaker manufacturers due to their efficiency and low power use. Linear amplifiers are always using power when in use. While class D amplifiers use less power with quiet passages of music. This makes them 90% efficient overall. The output consists of a series of high-frequency pulses. This is known as Pulse Code Modulation. The closer together the pulses are the higher the output. The output is then passed through a low pass filter to recover the audio.
Versatile connectivity
The System Audio Air 9 Compact Wireless speakers have a wide range of inputs. Bluetooth 5.00 is built in. Moreover, this is a long-range system that should help to prevent dropouts. The Bluetooth data is encoded with 16 bits at 48kHz. Moreover, you can improve your TV sound by connecting the TV via the HDMI input. This is ARC enabled and you can then control the System Audio Air 9 volume via the TV remote control. Next, there is a 3.5mm aux input as well as an RCA analogue input. Additionally, two digital optical inputs are provided. The remote speaker connects via a four-pin socket. A MM cartridge-equipped turntable can be connected via a pair of RCA inputs. Lastly, there is an output for an active subwoofer and the USB input can be used to charge your Smartphone.
Digital sound processing (DSP) for optimum performance
Digital Sound Processing is used by the System Audio Air 9. DSP can carefully tailor the sound to match the environment. The result is a more nuanced less coloured sound. In fact, the System Audio Air 9 has a 32-bit floating point processor for powerful active sound correction. There is also a wide range of user settings.
