Product Description
Thorens Soundwall HP600 Speakers are of a dipole design. They emit sound from the front and back. This has the effect of directing the sound more precisely and evenly. The dipole sound interacts better with the layout of a room and is less affected by walls and furnishings.
Wide dispersion speakers can struggle to deal with modern interiors that have hard floors and glass surfaces. Hence the Thorens Soundwall HP600 speakers provide lively dynamics and three-dimensional agile bass.
Three-way speakers with open baffles
The Thorens Soundwall HP600 Speakers is a three-way design based on the open baffle principle. The modern drivers have no enclosure or damping material on the rear. This generates a nimble, impulse-accurate sound. No less than 12 woofers deliver a wall of bass sound that reaches down to 40 Hz. This high-efficiency grouping creates an amazing sound pressure level.
Back-to back-tweeters
The upper part of the Thorens Soundwall HP600 sound panel comprises two back-to-back tweeters surrounded by two midrange drivers. This maintains the dipole characteristic of the speakers. Moreover, the rear-firing tweeter output can be adjusted independently. As a result, the sound has exceptionally precise imaging.
The 12 woofer, two tweeters, and two mid-range units generate extremely high undistorted sound levels. However, there is very little colouration. Additionally, the array is efficient and does not need a massive power amplifier to drive it.
Lastly, with their thin profile and graceful wing profile, the speakers do not dominate the room. They are also made of fine materials such as solid aluminium and fine wood veneers. The speakers can handle 300 watts and have a frequency response of 30Hz to 28 kHz. The impedance is 8 Ohms.
Who are Thorens?
Thorens are a Swiss company and have been in producing audio equipment since 1883. They began by making music boxes and soon moved into gramophones and radio. They were pioneers and developed the first electric motor for gramophone use. Before that record players were driven by clockwork springs. Later they made radio sets as well as radiograms. By the 1940s Thorens were making record-cutting machines followed by record changers.
Notably, In 1957 with the advent of stereo records Thorens became renowned for high-end record turntables. At about this time, the legendary TD124 turntable was released. Today Thorens also make a range of tonearms and phono preamps.
