Product Description
Warwick Acoustics M1 Electrostatic Headphone Amplifier has been specifically designed from the ground up for Warwick Headphones. The M1 is a Class-A amplifier with ESS DAC technology, custom-designed signal processing and an exquisite aluminum design.
Class-A Amplifier
The drive for the M1 amplifier comes from a single-ended, high performance, discrete FET Class-A amplifier which has a wide bandwidth, very low distortion, and has been optimised to match the HPEL traducers found in Warwich headphones. The M1 headphone Amp has been designed to drive the inherent capacitive load of the electrostatic transducer in the most optimal way possible. To improve the linearity of the M1 Amp, the Class-A output stage is operated with a high bias level which delivers a very high slew rate.
DAC
Warwick aimed to deliver high-resolution performance with the M1 Amp which is why they used ESS Technology. The M1 Amp comes with 32-bit reference DAC chips, the two DAC chips are used in a mono mode which delivers a measured 120 dB signal-to-noise ratio.
64-bit Fixed-Point Digital Signal Processing
The M1 Amplifier digitally processes all signals with a custom 64-bit double-precision fixed-point arithmetic that runs in tandem with a multi-core XMOS processor. Fixed point arithmetic is considered to be a superior method of audio processing and Warwicks 64-bit arithmetic has been designed to match or even exceed professional equipment.
USB Data Cable
The M1 Amplifier comes with a silver-plated data path and gold-plated connectors. Straight Wire has Co-developed the USB cable and has been designed to be the ideal connection between your digital music source and amplifier.
Universal Voltage PSU
The M1’s power supply has been custom designed with universal voltage switch-mode and utilised a fixed frequency design that is optimised for low noise with the audio bandwidth. To ensure a good connection to the M1, a locking DC power connector is used. All the power going into the uni is supplied by a ultra-low noise high current linear regulator.
Aluminum Case
The M1 Amplifier is made of strong, high purity aluminum 6063, within the manufacturing process, the metal is extruded and then CNC-machined to create a U-shape made up of the base and side panels. The metal panels along the sides and the top-plate are 8mm thick along with a 12mm backplate. A unique 3D-wave pattern has been cut into the base and the top plate to allow for heat distribution.
