Anniversary Edition
To mark Wharfedale’s 80th Anniversary, this special edition of the Denton is a classic, bookshelf two-way speaker. Beautifully crafted with hand veneered mahogany, an inset front baffle and traditional Tungsten cloth grille. The updated Denton is a classic update of the original speaker.
The original Denton was known for its warm, rich sound and the 80th Anniversary Edition manages to retain the original character while giving a more detailed, seamless performance. I bought my Dentons in the early 70s. Unfortunately for this new variant the originals are as good as ever and I continue to love them some 50 years later! -

I’m giving a review of this speaker after three years I bought it online at audioaffair.
I’m an audiophile and this is my main speakers in all my collection i have as bookshelf speaker. It is driven by Rotel’s pre-amp RC-1572 & power amplifier RB-1582MKii input source is Marantz NA6005. This speaker needs power to get the full potential of his sonic capacity. I swapped different amplifier with this speaker the underpowered could not drive them they are Marantz PM6006 (great amp) and Yamaha AS-500 (the worst amp) . The PM6006 could not bring the warm bass whereas the Yamaha AS-500 made it sounds bright. I hooked it also with my Harman Kardon HK3490 120 watts x2 it drives it normally. The Rotel RB-1582mkii 200 watts x2 drives them perfectly in terms of sound stage, mid and bass. My interconnects are audioquest and my speaker cable is Kimber Kable 8VS. My power cable are audioquest NRG Z4 and NRG Z3 series. The combination on the Rotels with this speaker and interconnects makes the sound very transparent that you can notice from a good recording from a bad recording of a same track title but on different released albums. I didn’t believe in cables this speaker proves me wrong. It is not audio jewellery. It all depends on which components you hook them up. I hooked same audioquest rca cables on my Yamaha AS-500 i couldn’t make a difference but on the Rotel’s and this speaker it really makes a difference. I really recommend the Wharfedale Denton 80th. The building quality of this speaker is amazing and high class. It matches the B&W 706 series in looks. Denton are for music lovers long listening time. I don’t know what this speaker has in it once you put it on you remain grounded on your chair in listening tracks after tracks. The end and last track of your listening session time will never end. Do yourself a favor buy this speaker and don’t look further if you’re hunting for bookshelf and living in an apartment. Bear in mind to hook it up with a good amplifier at minimum 120watts X 2 to unleash it’s full potential.
