Product Description
Audio Technica ATH-WB2022 Wireless Headphones celebrate the 60th anniversary of Audio Technica. These high end luxury headphones house an independent DAC and support 24bit/96Khz hi-res sources. They have eye catching polished wooded ear enclosures, that have excellent acoustic properties. Additionally each side has a separate DAC, battery and amplifier. Only a limited number of these premium headphones have been made.
Wooden enclosures
The wooden enclosures of the ATH-WB2022 wireless headphones are made of a combination of marbled maple, walnut and mahogany. This is not just about looks, the combination of materials helps to absorb vibrations and give a clean and pure sound. Additionally, there are separate chambers for the acoustic and electrical elements of the design. This further optimises the audio performance. Retro styling features include fabric-covered ear pads and the headband is also covered with Alcantara cloth material. Alcantara is a synthetic fabric that is comfortable, breathable and more environmentally friendly than leather
HD Drivers
The ATH-WB2022 headphones feature all-new 45mm high definition drivers that use a diamond-like-carbon (DLC) coated diaphragm. This material is known for its hardness and wear resistance as well as being light in weight. A world first is that these headphones feature a fully balanced design. This means that there is a separate DAC and battery for each ear. Additionally, the amplifiers use the MUSES05 operational amplifier chip. The MUSES05 chips are designed especially for music and can reproduce detail that would be lost by conventional operational amplifiers.
Nine hours use on a single charge
The Audio Technica ATH-WB2022 headphones have a long life battery and will run for nine hours on a single charge. There is also a wired USB connection that both charges the batteries and can be used to power the headset directly. High-resolution playback is available with a 24bit/96KHz DAC. Additionally, several codecs are supported including LDAC. AAC and SBC. Finally, there is Bluetooth support for more than one device. This means that you can pair two devices with app connectivity. There are also manual controls.
What is LDAC
LDAC is a codec that was developed by Sony, it lets you stream hi-res audio via Bluetooth. The data rate is 990kbs, more that three times faster than SBC. To achieve this rate the DAC uses more efficient coding as well as “optimized packetization”. LDAC was awarded “Hi-Res Audio Wireless” certification by the Japan Audio Society (JAS) in 2019.
