Product Description
Musical Fidelity M3x Vinyl is a fully discrete phono stage designed to complement Musical Fidelity's other range of the products, the M3SCD CD player and the M3SI Integrated Amplifier - together they make one hell of a music system! It offers a state-of-the art technical and sonic performance just like the M6x Vinyl, but at a cheaper entry-level price.
Simplicity
The design philosophy of the M3x Vinyl is built with simplicity being key whilst maintaining top quality audio performance. The connectivity is straightforward with just an input (1 x RCA pair) and output (1 x RCA pair), and neither of them can be overloaded at the input or limited at the output driving capacity.
Discrete Circuitry
Musical Fidelity believes in the values of un-coloured, stress-free sound and outstanding technical performance so they've switched the M3x Vinyl to an entirely discrete circuitry, which they believe results in better technical measurements and better sound.
Discrete circuitries are composed of electronic components such as transistors, resistors and capacitors, and not Op-Amps, as this would make it an integrated circuit. Although op-amps offer more efficiency in design time and space, years of listening tests and calculations have been made to suggest that even the very best op-amps do not tend to be so neutral and dynamic. This leads to Musical Fidelity's choice for a discrete circuit for the M3x.
Green Power
The M3x Vinyl boasts to have a power supply solution that uses zero power consumption when in standby mode, which is incredible! This is ecological feature is not found in most products.
Split Passive EQ
The M3x Vinyl uses the split passive EQ process in separate amplification stages for both of it’s RIAA and DECA curves, this ensures the most accurate representation of the ideal EQ curve when listening to your vinyl records. It also allows for better impedance matching and lower deviation from the ideal RIAA or DECA curve, useful for fine-tuning your sound.
The Build
The M3x’s has a steel chassis and a thick, heavy aluminium front-plate that brings rigidity to the entire unit. Inside, the Torodial power transformer is specifically separated and placed away from the amplification stages to ensure a high signal to noise ratio. Everything in the M3x is hand-wired in the EU along with sleek exterior, which is available in black and silver.
