Product Description
The TEAC PD 505T CD transport is a stand-alone CD transport that has no analogue audio outputs. It is designed to Connect to A DAC or integrated amplifier with a digital input. This is the best possible front end for CD playback. Teac also has CD players that are built into other devices such as DAB receivers and cassette decks.
The CD mechanism in this unit is based on the Professional design used by the CD-5020A. However, it has been improved for this flagship model. The mechanism uses a semi-floating mounting and gives a highly accurate reading of CDs. Moreover, even more accuracy can be obtained by connecting a 10Mhz external clock.
Semi floating mounting
The entire mechanism of the TEAC PD 505T CD transport is mounted so that it floats. As a result, no vibrations from the spindle motor or elsewhere can affect the payback accuracy. The mechanism has been designed with meticulous care. Moreover, it is also very rigid so that the disc is held firmly in place to reduce jitter. This creates a very stable and accurate signal for feeding to the DAC.
Quality spindle motor drive circuits
To achieve even higher performance the TEAC PD 505T CD transport spindle motor drive uses a new control circuit. The controller uses gentle feedback to create a natural rotating state. This results in an even more unaffected and open sound.
Additionally, the sled motor that holds the optical pickup also uses the BTL drive. This drive does not generate any switching noise or interference. As a result, there are no minute impacts on signal reading.
Independent power supplies
Toroidal core transformers are used by the TEAC PD 505T CD transport. Also, each circuit section, including the OLED display, CD drive, Microprocessor, and audio circuit is fed from separate windings and rectifiers. This reduces the chance of any mutual interference and enhances the audio performance.
Highly accurate internal clock
With digital signals the accuracy of the clock is important. Any deviation can affect the decoding devices, upstream. As a result, the TEAC PD 505T CD transport has a crystal-based internal clock system. This has low phase noise and ensures that no jitter is present on the output.
Also, there is also an external 10 MHz clock input so that an even higher precision clock can be used. Additionally, the same clock can be used for all of the connected devices including the DAC.
Why CDs?
CD’s are still capable of superb sound. They are also widely and cheaply available. However, the quality of the playback device is critical. Cheaper players often have poor mechanisms or single power supplies that drive everything. The quality of the DAC also has a great effect on sound quality.
Hence the TEAC PD 505T CD transport lets you use the best possible external DAC. All of the subsystems are powered separately and an external clock can be used to accurately synchronize the whole system. This is the best possible CD playback methodology.
